THe Master of the Arcane Spire

Nationality:
Marcello countryside
Lineage:
HumanKind / Palmerston
Personality:
Desperately craving validation yet keeping the world at a cold, unreachable distance. Scarred by early emotional estrangement, he has grown paranoid, resentful, and profoundly silent—like a dormant volcano on the brink of eruption. Only in the presence of his late wife’s relics does he betray a flicker of tenderness, one so fragile it borders on the morbid.
Description:
Weldon’s childhood ended in the dust of a cathedral’s collapse—a tragedy born of greed that saw his architect parents executed under the brand of “blasphemy.” During his years as a street urchin, the Great Mage Ray took him in. Initially, Ray provided the warmth and encouragement Weldon had long hungered for; it was the sole glimmer of light in his fractured life.
However, as Weldon’s magical genius began to surface, Ray’s tutelage took a sharp, frigid turn. Praise withered away, replaced by grueling drills and cold, relentless denial. Starved for validation and fractured by constant rejection, Weldon intercepted a secret missive from Ray to the Church. Words like “cultivate” and “deliver” ignited his deep-seated paranoia, convincing him that Ray was not raising a successor, but honing a living weapon for the very institution that killed his parents.
Driven by a searing sense of betrayal, Weldon poisoned his mentor. It was only after fleeing to North Colanville with Ray’s relics that the crushing truth emerged: Ray’s severity was a shield against the Church’s indoctrination, and the letters were a desperate gamble to secure a sanctuary for magic within a theocratic world.
Burdened by the sin of slaying the man who sought harmony, Weldon sought redemption in the North alongside his student, Lillian. For a fleeting moment, they found peace—wedded in love and using magic to heal the land. But the “Order of the One” from the South eventually tracked them down. A single night of arson reduced his sanctuary to ashes and claimed the life of his pregnant wife.
That fire ignited a revolution. Weldon rallied the masses to overthrew the “Order,” installed a puppet King, and raised the unshakeable Arcane Spire. Today, he stands as the true sovereign of Colanville—the ultimate nightmare of the Church he once feared.
Secret:
Weldon used Lillian’s uncompleted immortality to survive, solely to remember her. The forbidden ritual cost him his speech and turned his blazing red hair to a muted, vital-less beige. He is now a silent ghost at the Arcane Spire’s peak, watching over his conquered realm with infinite guilt and paranoia—freeing a land, but finding no peace.
